SIR INDUSTRIALE S.p.A. is an Italian family-owned company that has made a significant impact on the chemical industry for over 60 years. Our extensive range of products, flexibility, and customer-centric philosophy make us the perfect partner for any client. As part of P&R Holding, we belong to one of the largest chemical and pharmaceutical groups in the Italian industry, making us a strong partner driven by innovation and investment. The worldwide turnover of our privately-owned group, active in APIs and the pharmaceutical industry, is approximately 900 million euros.
SIR INDUSTRIALE was founded in 1956 in Macherio, a small town northeast of Milan, as S.I.R (Società Italiana Resine) in the facilities of the former Bakelite Italia by Italian businessman Angelo Rovelli. The company quickly emerged as one of Italy's leading chemical manufacturers. Its early years were marked by competition with another giant of the Italian chemical industry, the government-owned Montedison Group, which acquired S.I.R in 1988, integrating it into the group.
In the early 1990s, political changes in the Italian government led to a financial crisis for the Montedison Group. This situation culminated in the acquisition of S.I.R by P & R Holding (Pizzocaro & Rossi families) in 1996. In 1998, SIR INDUSTRIALE acquired Sprea Chemicals, an epoxy resin manufacturer based in Castelseprio, thereby increasing its production capacity and acquiring the Taffy process know-how for epoxy synthesis.
In the following years, the company focused on strengthening its market presence. In 2013, SIR INDUSTRIALE achieved a significant milestone by exporting more than 60% of its production worldwide, marking its global expansion.

Epoxy Resins
We offer a diverse range of versatile thermosetting epoxy resins. Under the brands EPOSIR® and EPONAC®, we produce various types of epoxy resins suitable for numerous applications, including anticorrosion coatings, solvent-borne coatings, water-borne coatings, can and coil coatings, powder coatings, civil engineering, adhesives, composite materials, and more. This section also features several cycloaliphatic products under the brand name SIRION® CE.
SIR INDUSTRIALE is recognized as one of the few producers utilizing two distinct manufacturing processes for epoxy resins: EPOSIR® resins are made using the "advancement process," while EPONAC® resins are produced using the "Taffy process."
